The Riverhounds GK Academy


The Riverhounds GK Academy will be opening up this November for six weeks. The Academy staff led by Riverhounds GK Zach Varga, will work on the fundamentals of Goalkeeping on a weekly basis with each session lasting 1hr 30mins. The curriculum will cover aspects such as agility, handling, footwork, and distribution, all of which are important in the modern day game for goalkeepers.

Each week we will have 2 sessions aimed at different age groups:-

The cost of the six week program is $150

 About Zach Varga

Zach Varga, Pittsburgh’s number 1 keeper, started 12 games in goal for the Hounds in 2008, playing 1,080 minutes. The team went 3-5-4 with him in goal. He posted two shutouts and made 44 saves while allowing 19 goals. His Goals Against Average was 1.583

In college, Zach played for Duquesne University and was a 3rd Team All-American Rookie in 2003. In 2005, he was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year. In addition to this Zach starred on the National Championship side - FC Delco.

Zach played at Hempfield High School in Lancaster, PA.
