Jason Kutney - Head of Youth Development/Academy Coach

Jason’s role is to lead the program in all aspects of Youth Development from the age of 5-16 years. As a graduate of Duquesne University, he has professional experience with Charleston Battery of the USL-1, and gained valuable experience as a youth player with Vitesse Arnham of Holland in 1996. Jason is a current member of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Professional team and hails from Freehold, New Jersey.


Scott Gibson - Director of Academy Operations/Academy Coach

Scott is in charge of overseeing the operations of the Academy program. As a graduate of Duquesne University, he brings experience from his time as a youth with the Middlesbrough Football Club Academy Program. The 2008 Riverhounds season was his rookie year as a player - Scott hails from Saltburn, England and is a midfield player.

Justin Evans - Academy Coach/Business Relations and Corporate Sponsorships / HEAD COACH

Justin handles many different roles at the Riverhounds. Along with coaching The Academy, Justin is in charge of the business and corporate sponsorships for the Riverhounds, and is an outstanding midfielder. Justin has gained experience playing for MLS outfits San Jose Earthquakes, Chicago Fire, and Dallas Burn, along with time playing in Poland for Petrochemia Plock and Lechia Gdansk. He also played for Charleston Battery. Justin is a local player from Peters Township.

Nathan Salsi - Academy Coach

Nathan is the captain of the Riverhounds and brings a wealth of experience to the program after 5 years of playing with the club. Nathan is a graduate of Duquesne University and preferred position is as a central defender. Nathan is a native of North Huntingdon, PA and a Norwin High School graduate.

Ed Hayden - Academy Coach

Eddie is a current defender for the Hounds and played collegiately at Saint Francis (PA) and at Monmouth University, both of which are in the Northeast Conference of the NCAA. He was All-NEC in 2004 and 2005 and was Monmouth’s team MVP in 2004. Prior to the Riverhounds Eddie played for the Richmond Kickers and FC Diablos. Ed hails from Rockville, Maryland.

John Rotz - Academy Coach / Director of Team & Tournament Operations / Assistant Coach

John is a key member of the Riverhounds organization performing administrative duties for the team and league throughout the calendar year. He is also in charge of setting up tournament for the local youth. John attended Shippensburg University and was a Regional All-American his senior year. John came to Pittsburgh to attend Graduate School at the University of Pittsburgh and recieved a Master’s in Education.

 

 

Travis Kruse - Academy Coach

Travis was a former Riverhound in 2000 and still puts his professional knowledge to good use by being a key member of the Academy Staff. Kruse played for the University of Pittsburgh, and is currently an executive for PNC Bank. Travis orginates from Cleveland Ohio and now resides in Pittsburgh with his wife Nichole, and newborn daughter Olivia.
