At each age group the Riverhounds Academy will offer a number of groups that are tiered according to a player’s technical ability. These groups will be comprised of previous Academy players along with players who are selected from the evaluations prior to the Winter Academy. All the players in these groups will be examined throughout the program and may be moved up or down at any point in time, per Academy staff discretion. This is an excellent way for the staff to encourage players to practice the skills that are provided at home.
This past Summer, the Riverhounds shifted the focus from soccer development to TOTAL DEVELOPMENT. As has been the ’norm’ in most European and South American countries, and is becoming the norm in US National Development Academies, the concept of developing the "total footballer" is one that demands commitment. This means there must be a full commitment from a capable and knowledgable Staff, in addition to the commitment from the player/family. As part of this total development process, The Riverhounds Academy has now implemented elite strength and speed workouts for all Academy players. The modern-day soccer player is fast, strong, skillful, and intelligent. This means we must consistently enhance each aspect over time.
