The Riverhounds Academy is now moving into its 5th season, having established itself into a Premier Training Program since the summer of 2007. The Academy has a tiered structure that promotes the development of our players depending on an individuals skill level and age. As a program, the journey for a player begins at an age early of three and continues right up to the U16 Age group. The training groups are instructed by current Riverhound professional players and coaches, who are responsible for the development of all boys and girls in The Academy. A major positive of the program is the ability of the instructor to show The Academy players the correct methods of performing each technical aspect of the game.
We aim to offer the following throughout The Academy experience:
- To develop players in a professional environment
- Offer an experience that pushes each individual player to reach there potential as a player
- Coaches that are available to answer questions, share experiences, and show/demonstrate the technical side of the game
- Create an environment where The Academy players enjoy the game
- Offers a path for Riverhounds Academy players to seek entry into the RDA (Riverhounds Development Academy)
As we move into the winter, The Academy will offer a number of tiered groups geared towards the highest level of technical development for each and every player. The Curriculum will be tailored at an age specific level, and will feature the following age groups and levels.
1. Tier 1 Groups - U8 - U16 Boys and Girls.jpg)
2. Tier 2 and Tier 3 Groups - U8-U16 Boys and Girls
3. The Riverhounds Futures Program - U5 - U7 Boys and Girls
3. The Riverhounds GK Academy - U8 - U17 Boys and Girls
Evaluations - Mandatory for all NEW players seeking entry into the Academy
Due to the terrific response of the soccer community, The Academy is now managing waiting lists for all age groups of the developmental system. As a result, Academy directors will be holding evaluations for placement purposes as we simple can’t bring every single player into The Academy. Each Player that is interested in joining the Riverhounds Academy will be required to take part in a one hour length evaluation.
The Evaluation procedure has been in place for the past 4 years and the results have produced groups of players who are at the same level technically. This aids in the complete development of every player that enters the program. Throughout a players journey, The Academy will assess its players on a regular basis. These assessm
ents will take the form of regular evalutions, coupled with formal discussions with our players on self improvement and awareness of their own development. At any point throughout the program a player may move up or down the groups per discretion of The Academy Staff.

It is an aim of The Academy to offer all our players a unique opportunity to develop and mature not just into complete soccer players, but also to help our players develop into well rounded individuals. Our approach to detail and professionalism on and off the field, will prepare our players for the future challenges they will face with much greater confidence in their adult life. As a result each player will receive a Riverhounds Youth Academy Handbook that includes a detailed code of conduct that all are expected to adhere too.
