Summer Camps and The Riverhounds Academy POOL League
With the end of the school year rapidly approaching, the Riverhounds are busy preparing for a summer full of youth programs.
The Hounds will again offer their community summer camps, traveling to 20 organizations around the region. The camps will be held Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to Noon (with a few exceptions). Upcoming camps include Monongahela and Montour, both taking place June 15-18. The Monongahela camp will be held at Armstrong Field, while Montour campers will play at Burkett Fields.
The Riverhounds’ camps, open to girls and boys ages 7-12, are the only of their kind in the area that offer professional instruction from Riverhounds players and staff. The registration price of $130 also includes a community camp t-shirt, a size 4 soccer ball, and a ticket to the Riverhounds home game closest to the dates of the camp.
Campers focus on a different technique each day - footwork, passing, shooting, and balance. While the instructors mainly focus on technique, they aim to teach the basics of the game by having fun. Pool League
The Riverhounds are also offering a Pool League for their U8 – U13 Academy players. The Pool League, which costs $95 for returning players and $110 for new players, will be held every Wednesday afternoon from June 17th to August 12th at the Greentree SportsPlex.
Pool League players compete against each other in a pick-up format, with teams changing weekly, assigned by the Riverhounds Academy Staff. Five teams, out of about 20-25 players, will be picked from every age group. The program’s format will consist of six pick-up league dates and two technical training sessions.
