RIVERHOUNDS FACE EAGLES THIS SATURDAY
Game Will Feature Ladies Night Promos and Player Meet and Greet

QUEST FOR THE POST-SEASON CONTINUES THIS SATURDAY AGAINST CHARLOTTE

The Riverhounds continue their fight to remain in the playoffs this Saturday with a game against the Charlotte Eagles.  Saturday night at Chartiers Valley Stadium will also be ladies night, with special promotions and discounted tickets.  Fans who hang on to their ticket stubs will have an opportunity to meet their favorite Hounds after the game during a meet and greet at the Damon’s Grill in Bridgeville.

The Hounds have to be perfect – and lucky – over the last two weeks of the USL-2 season to make it into the playoffs, but it is still possible. To make it into the top five in the league, they now sit in eighth-place with 19 points, the Hounds will need to win their remaining two matches and hope that Real Maryland, at best, loses at least one of its remaining matches and ties two, Crystal Palace Baltimore ties its match with Harrisburg then loses in Pittsburgh, and Western Mass wins only one of its three remaining games.  The Riverhounds can afford to have the Pioneers win or tie one of those matches.

The Hounds last faced the Eagles in Charlotte where they came away with a disappointing 5-1 loss.  Charlotte is in fourth place in the USL-2 with 25 points, so they should be eager to maintain their place in the playoffs and possibly climb higher in the standings by taking three points from the Riverhounds this weekend.

Players to watch are Eagles’ forward Amauary Nunes, who scored two goals in Charlotte’s 5-1 win over Pittsburgh, as well as Riverhounds Jeff Hughes and Nathan Salsi who were both named to the USL-2’s team of the week for their performances against Western Mass in Week 16.

This Saturday’s game will be the fourth in the Riverhounds’ final homestand.  Over the past two weeks they went unbeaten against Western Mass, tying the Pioneers 1-1 and defeating them 3-0, before losing to the Wilmington Hammerheads 3-0.

It’s been an exciting few weeks of soccer in Pittsburgh and the Hounds are battling to extend their season even further.  For tickets to this weekend’s game, call the Riverhounds office at 412-539-1191 to reserve seats, or purchase your tickets at the gate prior to the game.  Remember the Riverhounds last game of the season against Crystal Palace Baltimore on August 15th is fan appreciation night.  You won’t want to miss the exciting promotions and giveaways!
