The Riverhounds and Kickers Square Off

Pittsburgh, PA - The Riverhounds (0-0-2) are set to host the defending USL-2 Champions, the Richmond Kickers (0-1-1) on Sunday to open their Home season.  The match is slated for a 3:00 p.m. Kick-off at Chartiers Valley Stadium.

The Riverhounds come home after two thrilling draws on the road. Hunter Gilstrap, the Hounds number one goalkeeper, has been on his “A” game since arriving to Pittsburgh.  His performance has landed him a spot on the USL-2 team of the week twice and most recently as the player of the week.

Head Coach, Justin Evans comments on Hunter’s performance, “His composure and organization has been flawless and the team feeds off of him making the big save.”

On the other side of the pitch, the Kickers are coming off a loss to Charlotte and will be playing two road matches in less than 24 hours over the weekend. With this in the mind, the Riverhounds will come out focused and determined to score early and often.

The Riverhounds offense is led by veteran striker, Chad Severs and complimented by outside midfielders, Tommy Gray and Matt Baker.   The three have combined to press the opponent’s defense and create quality opportunities in the first two matches of the season.

Pittsburgh has partnered with the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society to raise awareness of Blood Cancer. LLS Man of the Year Candidate, Joe Sadowski will be present for the honorary Coin Flip along with Girl and Boy of the year, Hannah Hannum and Jon McNamee to perform the Inaugural First Kick.  A 50/50 raffle will be held to help raise funds for families affected by the disease.

Tickets for the match can be purchased at riverhounds.com or by calling the office at 412.539.1191.  (Ticket Pricing:  Youth-$6 & Adult-$9)
