Installation of Grandstands and Turf Field begin at Highmark Stadium


Pittsburgh, Pa. (October 24, 2012) Construction at Highmark Stadium continues to move forward with the installation of the grandstand seating as well as groundwork for the turf field, reports Stadium officials. Installation of the steel understructures for the east and main grandstands began last week and will continue throughout this week. Half of the seats have been installed on the east grandstand, which will accommodate approximately 500 individuals.

The understructure of the main grandstand is close to completion. Construction workers are scheduled to place the 792-square-foot press box on the structure tomorrow. Upon completion of the understructure, construction workers will begin to install seats for the estimated 2,800 occupancy structure.

Last week, groundwork also began for the turf field. Completion of the ground work will be finished this week and will be followed by the delivery of the turf.Behind the east grandstand, masonry work has begun on the east building, which will serve as one of two entrances and a concession area.

Underground structural work on the west entrance/team building has begun. Framework for the two-story building will begin in the upcoming weeks. Stadium officials expect Highmark Stadium to be operational by the end of November.
