Watch party held at Highmark Stadium

Pittsburgh—The Pittsburgh Riverhounds travel to Florida to square off against the Orlando City Lions on Saturday in one of the USL PRO quarterfinal matches.  The Riverhounds and Lions met twice in the regular season, seeing the Pittsburgh-side shut out the two-time USL PRO Regular Season Champions in both matches.  With the series advantage going to the Riverhounds in 2013, with a win and a draw, Saturday night’s match-up at Fifth Third Bank Field at the Florida Citrus Bowl should be an intense 90 minutes for all who are in attendance.  The match is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start, and the Riverhounds will be holding a ‘Watch Party’ at Highmark Stadium for their Pittsburgh supporters.

In his fourth year as Head Coach of the Riverhounds, Justin Evans will be leading his team into the playoffs for the third time.  After starting the season 0-4-1 in the month of April, the 2013 Riverhounds have shown their character and resilience throughout the season.  The Riverhounds rattled off a ten-game unbeaten streak, which spanned the months of May and June, and finished July (2-2-1) and August (3-2-1) with winning records.

“You can throw out everything that has happened in the regular season,” stated Justin Evans.  “The only thing that matters right now is how we perform in our next game.  The win-or-go-home stakes could not be any higher for the teams that are still in pursuit of this year’s Championship.”

The 2013 season has been filled with peaks and valleys for the Riverhounds, but earning a berth into the USL PRO playoffs has provided the Club an opportunity to reach one of its goals, a championship.

The Riverhounds will be hosting their first-ever playoff watch party at Highmark Stadium for its supporters.  Fans are invited to bring beach towels and blankets to sit on the field and watch the game live on the LED big screen.  The Starting XI Bistro will be open for fans to grab dinner and drinks throughout the evening.  Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and admission is free.
