The Pittsburgh Riverhounds (8-12-11) play their final game of the 2017 season at 7 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 14 against Ottawa Fury FC (8-10-13) at Highmark Stadium.

In their only other meeting this season, the Hounds defeated Fury FC, 1-0, on May 13 at TD Place Stadium. Saturday’s match will be the second-ever meeting between the two teams.

The season so far

Prior to defeating FC Cincinnati last weekend, Fury FC endured a 10-match winless streak. On Aug. 12, Ottawa was 7-7-6 and in position to make the playoffs, but its ensuing multi-month slump means its season will end following Saturday’s match.

Player to watch

Midfielder Steevan Dos Santos is tied for seventh in the Eastern Conference with 10 goals. Additionally, Dos Santos’ 23.8 conversion rate is tops on Fury FC among players with at least 10 shots.

Dos Santos has scored in back-to-back matches and has found the back of the net seven times in the last 10 matches, including two tallies via penalty kicks.

Strengths

Defense – Ottawa has conceded the third-fewest goals in the East (40) largely due to its keeper. Callum Irving’s 74 saves and seven clean sheets are fifth and tied for sixth, respectively, in the Eastern Conference.

Headers – Ottawa’s nine header goals are second best in the East.

Weaknesses

Road record – A 2-8-5 mark away from TD Place Stadium is a big reason why Fury FC is out of a playoff spot.

Passing – Ottawa is last in the East with a 72 percent passing percentage.
