Ben Fitzpatrick re-signs with Riverhounds SC for the 2018 campaign after starting five of his nine appearances in 2017.
Logging 456 minutes during the 2017 season, the midfielder placed three of his four shots on net. Defensively, he tallied 17 tackles and 11 clearances. Fitzpatrick held a 2-to-17 fouls-to-tackles ratio, which ranked best on the team.
Prior to inking his first professional contract with the Hounds, Fitzpatrick played collegiately at Ohio State University and Urbana University.
As a senior at Ohio State in 2016, Fitzpatrick appeared in 18 games (14 starts). In 1,247 minutes, the midfielder recorded 24 shots and 10 shots on goal. The Hilliard, Ohio native accounted for four assists and scored two goals, including the game-winner in the Buckeyes’ conference opener against Northwestern University.
Before transferring to Ohio State for his senior campaign, Fitzpatrick competed in the Premier Development League for the Michigan Bucks during the summer of 2016. He racked up 10 goals and three assists in 18 games played en route to helping the Bucks capture a league-record third title.
From 2013-15, Fitzpatrick starred at Urbana, where he was a three-time All-Atlantic Region and All-Mountain East Conference (MEC) selection. As a co-captain his junior season, he earned Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association All-Ohio first team honors and scored the game-winning goal in the Blue Knights’ first-ever NCAA Tournament game – a 1-0 victory over No. 21 Millersville University. At the NCAA Division II school, he was awarded MEC Freshman of the Year in 2013.
Across his four years of collegiate play, Fitzpatrick totaled 15 goals and 11 assists in 68 career appearances.
