PITTSBURGH (Sept. 3, 2019) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC forward Neco Brett has been named USL Championship Player of the Week following a five-point performance in the team’s 4-0 win against Ottawa Fury FC this past Saturday at TD Place Stadium.
Brett first posted an assist in the 2nd minute of the match, playing a through-ball to Steevan Dos Santos, who broke the nil-nil score. The Kingston, Jamaica native then posted a sensational right-footed goal nine minutes later, cutting past a defender in the 18-yard box before placing a shot into the bottom left-hand corner. He secured the brace with a tally in the 34th minute, chasing down a ball from Dos Santos and launching it into the back of the net.
This season, Brett leads the club with 10 goals and 24 points. This past Saturday, he joined Corey Hertzog as the only players in club history to have recorded at least 10 goals in back-to-back seasons for the organization.
In addition to Brett’s honors, Dos Santos was named to the Team of the Week bench for his four-point (one goal and two assists) performance.
The Hounds are back in action this week, hosting two-time defending champion Louisville City FC at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Highmark Stadium.
