PITTSBURGH (March 14, 2019) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (0-0-0) opens its 20th anniversary season against the Tampa Bay Rowdies (1-0-0) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Al Lang Stadium, which will mark Tampa Bay’s home opener.
Unlike Pittsburgh, which did not participate in USL Championship league action in week one, Tampa Bay defeated Memphis 901 FC, 1-0, to earn three points to open the season.
The last time Pittsburgh visited the Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium, the two sides played to a 2-2 draw. The Hounds are 0-1-1 all-time in away games against Tampa Bay but hold the all-time advantage with a 2-1-2 overall record in the series.
In team history, the Black and Gold own a 5-6-8 record in season openers. Recently, the team holds a streak of two straight draws – tying Nashville SC, 0-0, in 2018 and New York Red Bulls II, 3-3, in 2017.
This match will kick off a four-game road stretch for the Hounds to start the 2019 campaign. The team has never previously begun a season with four straight away games.
