PITTSBURGH (April 30, 2019) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC defender Ryan James has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week after playing a large role in the team’s dramatic comeback 2-2 draw against Nashville SC this past Saturday at Highmark Stadium.
In second-half stoppage time, James played a dangerous ball across the goalmouth that led to a Nashville own goal, which tied the score at its final of 2-2. The defender also posted a game-high eight interceptions and 107 touches.
James is one of three players to have played every minute of the campaign thus far for the Hounds. The Mississauga, Ontario, Canada native paces the club with 24 interceptions and is tied for the team lead with three blocks this season.
The Hounds are back in action this weekend, as the club travels to play the Charleston Battery at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at MUSC Health Stadium. Local fans can watch the match live on Pittsburgh’s CW whereas out-of-market fans can stream the match live on ESPN+ with a paid subscription.
