RDA Weekend Recap - 6/3

By Riverhounds Staff, 06/03/19, 5:45PM EDT

The first weekend of June brought a lighter schedule for the Riverhounds Development Academy (RDA), though there were still plenty of games to the north with the ECNL girls on the road at the Western NY Flash and many of the East teams competing at the Erie Premier Cup.

The 00/01 Composite Girls turned in a winning performance in their final outing, knocking off the Flash, 4-2. Helina van Bibber scored a second-half hat trick for the Hounds and Abby McEnroe opened the scoring by heading home an Emma Hoffman corner kick in the first half.

There were goals aplenty in the 03 Girls outing, as well, and the match ended as a 4-4 draw. Anna Durmis and Tessa Dellarose had two goals each, and the Hounds initially held a 2-0 lead. The hosts came roaring back to take a 4-3 lead, but the RDA got the game's final goal to rally for the draw.

In Erie, the 03 East Girls nearly brought home a title, but they were beaten on penalty kicks by homestanding MSA Gold after the championship game was played to a scoreless draw. Penalties also ended the run for the 01 East Girls in the semifinals, as they were knocked out after a 1-1 draw with Empire United (New York).

The East teams also had some scoring stars during the tournament, as Natalie Vilchek (01 Girls) and Roman Agostoni (07 Boys) each scored hat tricks during group stage matches in Erie.

Girls ECNL

  • In ECNL action, the 00.01 Composite Girls defeated the Western New York Flash, 4-2. Abby McEnroe scored a header off an Emma Hoffman corner in the first half. Helina van Bibber scored a second-half hat trick in a very good last performance for this group.
  • Meanwhile, the 03 Girls drew with the Flash, 4-4. The RDA went up 2-0 early before the opposition responded with two to draw level at half. The second half consisted of back-and-forth action, ending up with RDA scoring the final goal for the draw; Anna Durmis and Tessa Dellarose each notched a brace.
  • The 04 Girls played a strong first half against the Flash before the opposition pulled away for a 3-0 win in the second half. The score was nil-nil at the end of the first period.
  • The 05 and 02 Girls both lost close games against the Flash. A missed penalty and late goals by the Flash made the 5-1 result a wider gap than it actually was between the teams. Lola Abraham scored for the RDA 05 Girls in this match. On the other hand, the 02 Girls fell 2-0 to the Flash - a one goal game until the final minutes.

Erie Premier Cup

  • In the Erie Premier Cup, the 01 Girls East team defeated MSA Gold, 5-1. Natalie Vilchek scored a hat trick whereas Hannah Merschat and Paige Marshalek also notched goals.
  • The 03 Girls East squad came away with a draw (0-0 against MSA Blue). In their other match, they just lost to TCSC, 2-1. Kayde Koballa scored for the squad.
  • The 03 Boys East team came away with two draws. They tied Club Ohio United, 2-2, with goals from Tyler Chernisky and Will Casey. The second match exemplified a great defensive effort from the team, tying Super 9, 0-0.
