VICTOR, N.Y. (March 13, 2017) – The Pittsburgh Riverhounds dropped their first match of the preseason, falling 5-1 to the Rochester Rhinos at the Pinnacle Athletic Complex in Victor, New York.

The match saw the clubs play in a non-traditional format that was broken into three segments – two 40-minute periods of play and then a 30-minute closing third.

Scoring the lone tally for Pittsburgh was Nick Thompson in the 61st minute off a free kick header. The Hounds kept play close in the first two segments, trailing only 2-1 after the first 80 minutes before ceding three goals in the match’s final third.

With the defeat, the Hounds are now 3-1-2 in six matches this preseason.

Pittsburgh now returns home for its preseason finale against Duquesne University on Sunday, March 19 at noon. The club’s 2017 Fan Fest will also follow the match. For more info on the day’s festivities, click here
