Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC is holding Peace on the Pitch, a fundraising event helping those affected by the tragedy at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood, from 12-4 p.m. this Sunday at Highmark Stadium.
All proceeds will be donated to the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety. Centered on Pittsburgh neighborhoods unifying and standing together through the beautiful game, preregistered participants will be provided with the opportunity to play soccer on the Highmark Stadium field. For those not playing soccer, there will be plenty of other activities and ways to donate.
Here is a guide to this weekend’s event.
How to Donate
At the event, charity baskets, which contain special items from partners, will be available for raffle. In addition, concessions profits and a 50/50 raffle will be other means of donating. Open donations will be accepted at the event.
For those who cannot make it to the event but still want to donate, the Hounds have set up a channel for online donations. To give online, click here.
#StrongerThanHate t-shirts are also available at the event. The club thanks partners adidas and Allegra Printing for their donation of the shirts and printing, respectively. For those who cannot make the event and would still like to purchase a t-shirt, visit our online store.
Proceeds from all these items will go toward the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety.
Peace on the Pitch will kick off with 7-on-7 friendly soccer matches with preregistered teams participating. Following the 7-on-7 competitions, a first responders game and a penalty shootout will take place. With each goal during the shootout, partners will contribute a paid donation toward the fundraiser.
For participating teams, registration begins at noon and the friendly matches will start at 1 p.m.
