BIO
Alex Dixon is entering his second season with Riverhounds SC in 2022, having reunited with coach Bob Lilley, who he played for with the Rochester Rhinos in 2014-15.
In his first season with the Hounds, Dixon was a prominent part of the attack. He led the Hounds with nine assists and was second on the team with nine goals, and he was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week a team-leading five times.
Dixon spent the past two seasons with Hartford Athletic. In the club’s inaugural season, Dixon scored five goals and had a team-high four assists in 27 matches. He bested his scoring total in a shortened 2020 season, netting a team-leading six goals in just 15 games to lead Hartford to its first-ever playoff appearance.
From 2017-18, Dixon suited up for the Oklahoma City Energy, scoring 18 goals in 65 matches for the Western Conference side. He played the 2016 with the Jacksonville Armada of the NASL, scoring two goals in 15 matches.
His first stint in USL was a successful one with the Rhinos from 2014-15. Dixon scored six goals in 46 matches, including two game-winning goals against the Riverhounds, and he was a starter throughout the Rhinos’ championship season in 2015.
Dixon first entered the pro ranks with Houston Dynamo of MLS, who signed him as a Homegrown Player after his junior season at the University of North Carolina. His first goal with the Dynamo was a 93rd-minute winner in a 3-2 victory over Real Salt Lake on Aug. 20, 2011, but he would end up making just 13 MLS appearances for the club from 2011-13, spending a short loan stint in 2013 with the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the NASL.
While playing in college at UNC from 2008-10, where he amassed 14 goals in 61 appearance, Dixon also played the 2010 season with Reading United in the USL PDL, scoring twice in seven appearances.
