BIO
Dane Kelly is entering his first season with Riverhounds SC in 2022.
The all-time leading goal scorer in USL Championship history with 99 goals, Kelly signed as a free agent with the Riverhounds in January after playing the past two seasons with the Charlotte Independence.
The Jamaican first arrived in the league on loan with the Charleston Battery in 2011 before later making his move from Tivoli Gardens in his home country permanent. In five seasons with the Battery, Kelly scored 42 goals and won a championship with Charleston in 2012.
From there, he would spend time in USL with Swope Park Rangers — now Sporting Kansas City II — in 2016, Reno 1868 FC (2017), Indy Eleven (2019) and the Independence. His season in Reno was his most prolific, as he scored 18 goals wo win MVP and Golden Boot honors. In total, Kelly has a record seven double-digit goal seasons in the Championship.
Outside of the USL, Kelly spent 2018 under contract with D.C. United in MLS, spending part of the season back in the USL Championship on loan with the Richmond Kickers. He began 2021 with Bnei Sakhnin in the Israeli Premier League before returning to Charlotte in May.
Kelly also has made four appearances with the Jamaican National Team since debuting with the Reggae Boyz in 2017. He recorded a goal and an assist in his second international match, a 2-2 draw with South Korea, and later added his second international goal in a CONCACAF Nations League qualifier against Bonaire.
