BIO
Dani Rovira returns to the Riverhounds for his sixth season with Riverhounds SC in 2024, making him the team’s second-most-tenured player.
Rovira’s versatility has made him a critical piece since arriving in Pittsburgh, playing both wing back spots frequently with occasional stints in the midfield or higher on the wing. In 2023, he posted his second consecutive season with five assists to give him 13 with the Hounds — the most in team history by a defender — and he enters this season with 111 matches played for the Hounds, 11th in club history.
In 2022, he appeared in 29 games with 16 start, a year after starting 20 of the 29 games in which he appeared in 2021. That season, he led the team with 66 tackles and added two assists while playing a career-most 1,788 minutes.
In 2020, Rovira appeared in 10 games with four starts, recording recorded his first assist for the Hounds on Aug. 19 in a 2-0 win at Loudoun United. He made eight appearances for Pittsburgh in his first pro season, 2019, including four starts after he signed with the club at the start of the year.
The Bogotá, Colombia native began his college career at Dean College (Mass.), where he was named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-America Second Team as a sophomore after finishing third on the squad with seven assists.
Rovira then moved on to the University of Vermont for the 2017-18 seasons. He totaled 33 games played (23 starts) and two assists with the Catamounts, both of which came during his senior season.
