BIO
Mekeil Williams returns to Riverhounds SC after having his option for 2022 picked up by the team.
In 2021, Williams appeared in 26 matches for the Hounds, operating as one of the team’s primary center backs. He recorded one assist and was second on the team with 70 clearances.
Williams moved to Pittsburgh from CSD Municipal in Guatemala’s top division, where he spent the 2019-20 season Clausura (second half) and made 12 appearances.
Well-traveled throughout his career, Williams spent time as a starter in the USL Championship with Oklahoma City Energy in 2019 and the Richmond Kickers in 2018. Prior to that, he spent 2016-17 in MLS with the Colorado Rapids, making 38 appearances over two seasons.
Williams’ other stops include Antigua GFC (Guatemala) in 2015-16, two stints in his homeland with W Connecton from 2011-12 and from 2013-15, plus brief spells with Pogon Szczecin (Poland) on loan in 2012 and FC Fyn (Denmark) in 2012-13.
A long-serving member of the Trinidad and Tobago National Team, Williams has made 32 appearances for the Soca Warriors, scoring his only international goal in his debut, a 3-2 friendly defeat against Finland on Jan. 22, 2012. In 2021, he was called into the squad in July and played all three matches at the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Most recently, on Jan. 21, 2022, Williams captained his country in a friendly on the road against Bolivia.
