BIO
Russell Cicerone enters his second season with Riverhounds SC in 2022.
The forward had a career season in 2021, as he led the Hounds with 16 goals and also added eight assists. Those totals made Cicerone the only player to rank in the top 10 of the USL Championship in both categories. He was also the runner-up in voting for USL Championship Player of the Month in August, a month in which he scored his first career hat trick in a 4-1 win over Atlanta United 2.
Prior to joining the Hounds, he spent the two seasons with Saint Louis FC, where he scored 10 goals in 49 appearances and helped the team reach the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 2020. Cicerone spent 2018 with FC Cincinnati, scoring once in 10 appearances.
Cicerone entered the pro ranks after playing at the University at Buffalo as a fourth-round pick (76th overall) in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by the Portland Timbers. He was signed to Portland Timbers 2 and scored one goal in 27 games during his rookie season.
In college, Cicerone was a prolific scorer with 42 goals and 22 assists in 71 matches for Buffalo. While with the Bulls, he also competed with FC Buffalo of the NPSL in 2014 and with the Michigan Bucks of the USL PDL from 2015-16, scoring 20 goals in 22 games for the Bucks.
