BIO
Shane Wiedt is entering his second season with Riverhounds SC after his option for 2022 was picked up by the team.
In 2021, Wiedt was a mainstay in the Hounds’ back line as the only defender to appear in all 32 matches. He led the team with 108 clearances and scored his first goal for the Hounds on Sept. 25 against the Charleston Battery.
The defender spent his first two professional seasons in the USL Championship with Loudoun United FC, where he made 20 appearances and scored his first pro goal during the 2020 season.
Wiedt is returning to Pittsburgh, where he finished his college career at the University of Pittsburgh in 2018. He started 16 games for the Panthers after transferring from Akron, where he was part of the Zips’ 2017 team that reached the NCAA semifinals.
While still an amateur, he also suited up for the Erie Commodores (2017) and Virginia Beach City (2019) of the NPSL.
