The Riverhounds Academy Model

The Riverhounds Academy was launched in 2007 to provide young soccer players with a thorough understanding of the game and the skills necessary to perform on the field.

We deliver a skill-driven system of development focusing on individual player improvement rather than winning team competitions. Our curriculum was initially designed in association with Everton F.C. of the English Premier League.

The Riverhounds Academy currently develops about 1,300 players between the ages of 3 and 18 and provides identification opportunities to participate in the Riverhounds Development Academy (RDA), the highest tier within our youth system.

Riverhounds Development Academy (RDA) - COMPETITIVE TEAM MODEL

Mission Statement:

The Riverhounds Development Academy (RDA) seeks to identify, improve, and advance elite youth soccer players through the creation of a multi-faceted platform under the Pittsburgh Riverhounds professional team.  The RDA will consistently evaluate its players, staff, and programs, to ensure all meet the highest standards upheld by the professional team and its governing body, the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).

The Riverhounds Development Academy (RDA) is a current member of the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) on both the boys and girls side. Information on each can be found below.

Elite Clubs National League - GIRLS

Elite Clubs National League - BOYS

The RDA team model has teams on both the girls and boys side from U8 (2010) - U19 (1999). The tryouts for our RDA teams are in May/June of each year. If a player is interested in joining the RDA at an alternate time they must contact the RDA Staff directly.

Riverhounds Training Academy

The Riverhounds provide year-round training programs that focus in on all areas of player development. Outside of the RDA Team model, The Riverhounds Training Academy provides technical training for boys and girls aged 3-18. The Training Academies are led by current and recently retired professional players and will include visual demonstrations throughout.

The Riverhounds Training Academy is open to ALL players regardless of club affiliation. Our sessions are designed to complement your child’s efforts with their community and/or classic division club by providing them with additional high-level instruction to improve their performance level through skill and technique.

We offer our Training Academy Programs both in Pittsburgh and in the East. You will find information on all our programs throughout the website:
