PITTSBURGH (April 13, 2026) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds 2 has added UNC-Greensboro midfielder Caleb Borneo for its inaugural USL League Two season.
From Morgantown, W.Va., Borneo transferred to UNCG this spring after completing his redshirt sophomore season with Akron. He notched three goals and one assist with the Zips this past fall, finishing fourth on the team in points.
“Caleb is a player that we were interested in from the start, who can add a level of creativity and attacking threat to the group,” Riverhounds 2 head coach Josh Kremers said. “He will be a great addition to the project as we continue building the pathway into the professional level of soccer domestically and abroad. His ability has allowed him to be an impact player in multiple teams, including his current team at UNCG.”
Borneo joins Hounds 2 with USL League Two experience, having played for Kings Hammer Columbus last summer. He registered a goal and an assist while playing 438 minutes, second-most on the team.
The 20-year-old spent time as a youth player in the Columbus Crew Academy, and he holds dual citizenship with the United States and Trinidad and Tobago. He played for both countries’ youth national teams, the U.S. at the U-19 level and Trinidad and Tobago as a U-20 player.
As the inaugural season for Riverhounds 2 nears on May 17, more player announcements and team news will be announced.
