PITTSBURGH (Aug. 20, 2026) — The Hounds are heading to the land of the Wonder Wheel and Nathan’s Famous hot dogs when they make their first trip to face Brooklyn FC on Saturday night.
The two teams first met in Pittsburgh back on July 4 — coincidentally, the same day as the annual Nathan’s hot dog eating contest — and it was the USL Championship newcomers who grabbed a surprise 2-0 victory at F.N.B. Stadium. With that in mind, the Hounds will be looking to give Brooklyn a reversal of fortune when they take the field at Maimonides Park in Coney Island for their first match in New York City proper since 2011.
The Hounds have found decent form to begin August, going 2-0-1 in their first three matches of the month, and last week’s 3-1 win over the Charleston Battery was the most impressive of the lot. The early goals by Trevor Amann and Danny Griffin allowed the Hounds to sit and dictate the style of play, and the set piece finish by Victor Souza — an NYC native returning home this week — made the finish a relatively comfortable one. The Hounds are now 12-1-0 across all competitions when scoring the first goal this season, which has the team further emphasizing the need for a quick start on the road.
Brooklyn, on the other hand, has hit a rocky patch since their win in Pittsburgh, following up that match with a pair of draws and then three straight defeats, the most recent being a 2-1 setback in Las Vegas last weekend. This will be just the second home match for Brooklyn since the start of July, however, and the team is not lacking in firepower with five goals and three assists from Markus Anderson and two goals and five assists by CJ Olney, the 19-year old on loan from the Philadelphia Union who scored the opener in the first meeting with the Hounds.
While the playoff line is drifting away from Brooklyn, which sits 11 points back of Hartford for the eighth spot in the East, the Hounds couldn’t be in a tighter race for the top four. Only three points separates second-place Charleston and the fifth-place Hounds with Detroit and Louisville wedged in between, and except for Detroit holding one match in hand, each of those teams now has 10 remaining on the schedule.
Saturday’s match broadcast marks a return to KDKA+ for the live airing, and the match will re-air Sunday at 1 p.m. ESPN+ will carry the live stream, and Radio Las Palmas, 92.9 FM HD2 again will provide coverage of the action in Spanish locally.
