(Sept. 6, 2026) — Miami FC grabbed a late, tying goal to end a back-and-forth affair with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds ending as a 2-2 draw today at Pitbull Stadium in Miami.
Daltyn Knutson’s header in stoppage time got Miami (5-10-8) a share of the points after Arney Rocha opened the scoring in the first half. Trevor Amann scored on a penalty kick for the Hounds (10-9-5) to level the score before halftime, and Sam Bassett gave the Hounds a second half lead.
The match was played Sunday at 11 a.m. after being postponed Saturday night due to thunderstorms in South Florida.
First half
The morning start led to both teams working slowly into the match, and Eliot Goldthorp logged the first shot of the match in the 25th minute for the Hounds.
Bassett and Charles Ahl sent dangerous balls into the box as the Hounds pressed forward before halftime, but it was Miami who opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time. Rodrigo da Costa got into the right side of the box, and he fed Rocha who touched the ball in from the front of goal.
The Hounds were level again minutes later after Amann was knocked over in the box trying to get on the end of a Danny Griffin cross. After winning the penalty, Amann converted to the bottom left corner for his 11th goal — seventh in league play — on the season.
Second half
Miami got the early chances in the second half, forcing two of Nico Campuzano’s five saves in the Hounds net.
In the 60th minute, Bassett put the Hounds on top on a play that began with a corner kick. Ahl sent the second ball back into the box, and Owen Mikoy’s header struck the crossbar and ricocheted to the top of the box. Griffin retrieved the rebound and fed Bassett inside the box for a low finish through traffic.
The Hounds nearly came away with all three points, but 10 minutes into stoppage time, Rocha lifted a high ball into the box from the left side. With numbers thrown forward, the center back, Knutson, nodded the ball into the bottom right corner of the net with one of the final touches of the match.
Modelo Man of the Match
Sam Bassett scored to put the Hounds ahead and also led the side with three chances created and six total crosses. The midfielder also won 3 of 5 duels and earned a pair of free kicks on the day.
What’s next?
The Hounds return home for their only home match of September when they host Loudoun United FC on Saturday, Sept. 12 at F.N.B. Stadium. The Hounds have defeated Loudoun (3-8-11) twice this year: 3-2 in Virginia on March 14, and 2-0 in Pittsburgh in a USL Cup match on July 11.
