PITTSBURGH (Sept. 10, 2026) — With the schedule winding toward the end of the regular season, the Hounds are lined up for their only home match in September when they host Loudoun United FC on Saturday.
The Hounds, who have the fewest matches remaining of any Eastern Conference team with six, know they need more points to consolidate their position inside the top four and claim a home playoff opener. Loudoun, on the other hand, sees the clock ticking down on their chance at back-to-back postseason appearances as they need to make up a nine-point gap with eight matches to play.
This will be the third meeting of the year between the two teams — the fourth if a February preseason match is counted — and the Hounds have had the upper hand each time. The first league meeting came way back on March 14 in the second match of the year, when the Hounds came away with a 3-2 win in Northern Virginia, and the teams met again in the Prinx Tires USL Cup for a 2-0 Hounds win July 11 at F.N.B. Stadium.
The Hounds have lost only once in seven matches since the start of August, going 3-1-3, but the team still hasn’t been thrilled with letting some points slip away late, as they did last weekend in the 2-2 draw at Miami. Trevor Amann upped his goal total to 11 on the season (seven in league play) from the penalty spot in that match, and Sam Bassett also bagged his fifth goal of the season and second in the past four matches.
On the Loudoun side, their lament is not turning more of their draws into wins, as they enter the match with 11 of their 22 contests finishing all square, the most in the USL Championship. Though the team sold top scorer Thor Úlfarsson last month back to Breiðablik in his native Iceland, Loudoun still has attacking pop led by reigning Young Player of the Year Abdellatif Aboukoura, who has five goals on the season. They also last month added forward Eddy Davis III on loan from the Philadelphia Union, and he made a splash in the team’s last match with a hat trick in a wild 5-4 loss to Colorado Springs.
In the stadium it will be Military Appreciation Night as we recognize those who have served in the armed forces with the Air National Guard performing the honorary ball delivery along with a Navy color guard prior to the match. It is also the final $1 beer night on the 2026 schedule, so fans are encouraged to arrive early for the IC Light special starting at 5 p.m. in the Tailgate Zone and moving into the stadium when gates open at 6 p.m. A limited number of tickets are still available for Saturday’s match through Ticketmaster and at the F.N.B. Stadium Box Office.
The contest will be shown live on SportsNet Pittsburgh with replays airing on both SportsNet Pittsburgh and SNP+ through the weekend and on Monday evening. The live stream of the match will be featured on CBS Sports Golazo Network, and Radio Las Palmas, 92.9 FM HD2 will have the radio call of the action in Spanish.
