PITTSBURGH (Oct. 27, 2026) — Two Pittsburgh Riverhounds earned spots on the final USL Championship Team of the Week for the 2026 season with forward Trevor Amann securing a spot in the first 11 and midfielder Danny Griffin being selected to a bench spot in the weekly honors announced by the league.

Amann closed out his first season with the Hounds as the team’s top scorer by recording a goal and an assist Saturday in the 2-1 win over Birmingham Legion FC. The finish gives him 13 goals across all competitions — nine in Championship play — to go with two assists on the campaign. His strong night in the home finale also included three chances created and winning 8 of 12 duels, which earned Amann his third weekly recognition of the year.

Griffin’s 90-minute effort against Birmingham included the team’s second goal, a rocket shot from distance that was nominated for USL Championship Goal of the Week. Along with his fourth goal of the season, the longtime Hounds captain connected on 37 of 44 passes (84.1 percent), made four recoveries and had a pair of successful dribbles in the contest.

The Hounds now turn their attention to defending their league title in the 2026 USL Championship Playoffs, which will begin with a 6:30 p.m. Friday match at Louisville City FC in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

PITTSBURGH (Oct. 20, 2026) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds goalkeeper Nico Campuzano was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 33 after his shot-stopping helped the Hounds secure a 1-1 draw on the road at Rhode Island FC last Saturday.

Campuzano produced five saves on the night, none bigger than denying a penalty kick by Leo Afanso in the 56th minute when the match was still scoreless. The Hounds keeper correctly dove to his left to stop the shot, which kept the team in position to earn a critical point and preserve an outside chance at a top-four finish and home match to open the playoffs next week.

It was the fifth time this season Campuzano has made five or more saves in a match, and the penalty save was his first of the year, which came on the third PK he has faced in his first season with the Hounds. Campuzano has been named to the Team of the Week three times this season, including his Player of the Week performance back in Week 10 at Louisville.

The Hounds will wrap up the regular season this Saturday, Oct. 24, when they face Birmingham Legion FC at 7 p.m. at F.N.B. Stadium. Tickets for the Fan Appreciation Night match are still available via Ticketmaster or by calling the box office at 412-865-GOAL.

PITTSBURGH (Oct. 16, 2026) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC will hold an open combine for aspiring professional players on Friday, Dec. 4, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the AHN Montour Sports Complex in Coraopolis, Pa. Participants will also be assessed for Riverhounds 2, the club’s pre-professional team entering its season second competing in USL League Two.

Players will have the opportunity to be evaluated by Riverhounds Sporting Director Dan Visser, Head Coach Rob Vincent and other members of the club’s technical staff. Individuals selected from the tryout may be called back for further evaluation and ultimately earn a roster spot on the professional team.

The combine is open to players ages 16 and older, and previous professional, college or high-level amateur experience is recommended. Cost to register for the combine is $150, but a special early-bird rate of $125 applies to those who register before Nov. 13.

Participants will be responsible for their own travel costs, lodging and food on the tryout date. The team is not offering assistance with visas or letters of invitation, except on a case-by-case basis.

PITTSBURGH (Oct. 13, 2026) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC midfielder Charles Ahl and defender Owen Mikoy were selected to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 32, the league announced this afternoon.

Ahl was the offensive star Saturday in the Hounds’ 2-1 win over Hartford Athletic that clinched a playoff berth for the team. The second-year pro set up Trevor Amann for the opening goal of the match before scoring the game-winning goal in the 66th minute by turning a pass from Robbie Mertz into the top of the net from 6 yards out. In addition to his scoring contributions, Ahl was credited with two chances created, four recoveries, won 5 of 9 duels and drew three free kicks for the Hounds.

Mikoy had a nearly flawless night as a ball winner from his center back spot in the victory, recording a season-high 16 clearances and winning 10 of 11 aerial duels for the ball, part of a larger 13-for-14 night on duels. Now an regular starter for the Hounds in his first year as a pro, Mikoy led the team by gaining possession six times, including winning all three of his tackles in the match.

For both players, it is the first time earning a spot in the league’s weekly best 11, though both Ahl and Mikoy did earn bench honors on the Team of the Week once earlier this season.

The Hounds are back in action for their final road match of the regular season when they visit Rhode Island FC on Saturday, Oct. 17 in a 7:30 p.m. matchup with major playoff seeding implications in the Eastern Conference.

(Sept. 5, 2026) — The USL Championship announced on Saturday the regular season contest between Miami FC and Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC scheduled for Saturday night at Pitbull Stadium has been postponed due to inclement weather in the Miami area. 

The contest has been rescheduled to Sunday morning at 11 a.m. ET at the same venue, and will be televised live on KDKA+ and streamed live on ESPN+. KDKA+ will not air the previously scheduled replay at 1 p.m.

PITTSBURGH (Aug. 4, 2026) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC midfielder Max Viera was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week, presented by SiteOne, when the league announced the honors for Week 22 this afternoon.

Viera was named to the team as a defender after playing right back in Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Oakland Roots SC. The first-year pro assisted the only goal of the match by getting forward to head a Charles Ahl cross back into the path of Eliot Goldthorp for the finish. That play was one of two chances created by Viera, who also won 7 of 8 duels, was successful on all three of his tackles, earned a pair of free kicks and added two clearances. 

Viera also won 3 of 3 duels and had a chance created in the Hounds’ midweek loss to FC Tulsa, in which he played 25 minutes coming off the bench as a substitute.

It is the first appearance in the weekly honors for Viera, who becomes the seventh different Hounds player named in the league’s best 11 this season. To see the full Team of the Week, visit uslchampionship.com.

PITTSBURGH (July 27, 2026) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC has acquired forward Yu Tsukanome from the Seattle Sounders of MLS on a loan deal for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Tsukanome, 25, is a native of Saitama, Japan, who has been a scoring standout for the past three seasons with the Tacoma Defiance, Seattle’s affiliate team in MLS Next Pro. Last season, he scored 21 goals in 31 matches to earn honorable mention all-league honors and set a new single-season record for the Defiance, a record spanning the team’s time in MLS Next Pro and the USL Championship.

“Yu is a technically strong attacker who brings an eye for goal, an ability to link play and a great work rate to complement our current group,” Hounds head coach Rob Vincent said.

“Yu was one of the most prolific goal scorers in MLS NEXT Pro last year and has continued that form through the first half of this season. We’re excited to add a player with his production to our attacking group,” Hounds sporting director Dan Visser added.

After two years under contract with the Defiance, Tsukanome signed with the Sounders before this season but was loaned back to Tacoma, where he has scored five goals in 10 appearances this season. In 70 total appearances for Tacoma since 2014, Tsukanome has accumulated 30 goals and eight assists.

Tsukanome joined the Hounds in training late last week and will be eligible for selection in the team’s next match Wednesday when they host FC Tulsa at 7 p.m. in a rematch of last year’s USL Championship Final.

PITTSBURGH (July 1, 2026) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC has selected the inductees for the 2026 Riverhounds Hall of Fame class with longtime midfielder Kevin Kerr and team owner Tuffy Shallenberger set to be honored at this year’s induction ceremony on Thursday, July 16.

Kerr, who played for the club from 2013-19, and Shallenberger, who first became part of Riverhounds leadership by joining the team’s former ownership group in 2013, are the first two inductees to represent the “modern” era of the team’s history — after the opening of F.N.B. Stadium, previously Highmark Stadium.

This year’s induction ceremony will be the fourth in the Hall’s history, and the Class of 2026 will be celebrated along with friends, family, teammates and Hounds staff. The inductees also will be honored at the Riverhounds’ match Saturday, July 18, when they host Louisville City FC in a noon match that will be televised nationally on CBS.

The Hall of Fame class was chosen in a vote by current Riverhounds leadership staff, the living members of the Hall of Fame and select media members who have covered the team. All inductees received at least 75 percent of the vote to be selected.

Meet the Riverhounds SC Hall of Fame Class of 2026

Kevin Kerr

A longtime midfielder for the Hounds known for his work rate and playmaking ability, Kerr played seven seasons for the Hounds from 2013-19 and still rates among the top players in club history among multiple categories. Born in West Germany and the son of a Scottish serviceman, Kerr began his career in the German league system, debuting at the senior level with Arminia Bielefeld and representing Scotland at the Under-21 level. He joined the Hounds before the 2013 season and quickly claimed a regular spot in the lineup, but 2015 would be his breakout season with 10 goals and nine assists to claim All-USL honors. He continued to be a veteran influence for the team as the club’s on-field fortunes turned upward in 2018, being a key part of the team’s first home playoff match at then-Highmark Stadium in 2018 and its first playoff win in 15 years during his final season. Kerr retired after 2019 as the club’s all-time assists leader, and he still ranks among the top five in team history for goals (fourth, 32), assists (second, 29) and appearances (fourth, 191) while having the most goals scored at F.N.B. Stadium with 24.

Tuffy Shallenberger

In his 12th year as the Riverhounds owner, Shallenberger has overseen an era of unmatched growth and on-field success for the Riverhounds organization. Already a successful businessman in construction and related industries, Shallenberger joined the ownership group in 2013 after his son developed an interest in the sport, and he became the team’s sole owner when the club emerged from bankruptcy after the 2014 season. His efforts kept the club operating through that time before kicking off an era of growth. Under Shallenberger, the Riverhounds Academy has grown from primarily a training program into a robust team model with nearly 1,000 boys and girls playing on the club’s teams annually. He also headed up the construction of the AHN Montour Sports Complex, the state-of-the-art training complex and sports medicine center that serves as the club’s home, and helped pave the way for the launch of the Pittsburgh Riveters, the club’s senior-level women’s team. But most notably, he was responsible for the hiring of longtime head coach Bob Lilley, and their combined efforts turned the Riverhounds into a perennial USL Championship contender, culminating with the team’s first trophy — the 2023 Players’ Shield — and its first league championship after winning the 2025 USL Championship Final.

PITTSBURGH (June 23, 2026) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds goalkeeper Nico Campuzano was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 16 after his shutout performance Saturday in the team’s 0-0 draw on the road at Hartford Athletic.

Campuzano finished the match with three saves to his name — all coming in the second half — and each of the three carried some degree of difficulty, including his leaping stop of a Michee Ngalina shot in the 60th minute and a strong block to parry away another shot by Ngalina in the 90th minute.

The goalkeeper also did well marshaling the defense as they combined to handle 12 Hartford corner kicks, and Campuzano also had three clearances in the match as he recorded his fourth consecutive clean sheet for a team that has not allowed a goal in its last 426 minutes.

It is the second Team of the Week honor in 2026 for Campuzano, who was Player of the Week in Week 10, the week when he began his current personal shutout streak.

The Hounds are off this week but return to action at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 4, when they host USL Championship newcomers Brooklyn FC at F.N.B. Stadium.
