BIO
Danny Griffin returned to Riverhounds SC in 2023 by way of a transfer from Hunstville City FC of MLS Next Pro.
Prior to signing with the Nashville FC affiliate, where he scored one goal in five matches, Griffin spent three years as a mainstay in the Hounds’ lineup. In his first three seasons in Pittsburgh, Griffin established a club record by appearing in 85 consecutive league matches — regular-season and postseason combined.
In 2022, he also set a Hounds record with 3,055 regular-season minutes played — five minutes short of the complete 34-game season — which came a season after he logged all but 12 minutes of the 32-game 2021 season. In his first three seasons in Pittsburgh, Griffin had five goals and three assists.
Before arriving in Pittsburgh, the Providence College product was drafted by Columbus Crew SC with the 49th overall selection in the second round of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, but he went unsigned.
The Wethersfield, Conn. native finished his career at Providence with 80 games played — all starts — and 13 goals and six assists.
