PITTSBURGH (Aug. 6, 2026) — The Hounds wrap up their string of matches against Western Conference foes when they host Sacramento Republic FC this Saturday with a chance to move back into the East’s top four.
A 1-0 win last weekend in Oakland snapped a two-match skid for the Hounds, but extended runs of form — good or bad — have evaded the team in an up-and-down season. Prior to the consecutive defeats to end July, the last time the Hounds got the same result from two straight matches was their back-to-back wins over Detroit and Greenville to end April.
One thing that has been consistent this season is the Hounds’ success when they come out on the front foot. Eliot Goldthorp smashed home the only goal just 20 minutes into the last match, and the Hounds’ victory improved the team to 11-1-0 on the season when they score the opening goal. That latest victory gave Nico Campuzano his fifth clean sheet of the league season behind a clinical defensive performance that limited Oakland to six shots (none on target) despite having more than 70 percent of possession.
If the Hounds are going to find the opening goal once again, it will likely come at the expense of Sacramento goalie Danny Vitiello, the 2020 Golden Glove winner with the Hounds. Both Vitiello and his backup, Jacob Randolph, are ex-Hounds players, but the rest of the Republic side is less familiar with the two clubs not facing each other last season. This will be the first meeting with Sacramento under head coach Neill Collins, the longtime Tampa Bay Rowdies boss, and remarkably, it is only the Republic’s second trip ever to Pittsburgh after a 0-0 draw in 2023.
Fans will want to arrive early, as the first 750 people in attendance will receive a limited edition Hype Train collectible featuring AMO in the engineer’s seat. Gates open at 6 p.m., while the Tailgate Zone opens at 5 p.m. and the season-ticket holder gate opens early at 5:45 p.m.
A new month also brings new monthly food specials, including Chorizo Nachos at Nacho Junction, the all-new Stadium Burger with caramelized onions and special Stadium Sauce at the Train Grill on the East End and Peach Cobbler Funnel Cake below the entrance to Section 108.
Saturday’s match will be shown live on SportsNet Pittsburgh+ with replays Sunday on both SNP and SNP+. The match will be streamed on ESPN+, and Radio Las Palmas, 92.9 FM HD2 will have the live, local broadcast in Spanish. Tickets for the match are still available through Ticketmaster and at the F.N.B.
