PITTSBURGH (Oct. 22, 2026) — Saturday is Fan Appreciation Night, and with confirmation the Hounds will begin the USL Championship Playoffs away from home, it could be the final home night of the year at F.N.B. Stadium when the team welcomes Birmingham Legion FC.
Louisville’s midweek win in Jacksonville claimed the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference, which means the Hounds will finish fifth with a win over Birmingham or a draw and a draw between Hartford and Rhode Island, while any other set of results places them as the sixth seed. But that one spot — plus the potential to host in later rounds if upsets happen across the bracket — gives the team plenty of motivation in the regular-season finale.
The Hounds will be looking to knock off a Legion side that got the better of them way back on April 12 when the Hounds lost 1-0 in Alabama. Though the Legion were eliminated from playoff contention weeks ago, they haven’t backed off down the stretch and earned a midweek win themselves on Wednesday, 2-1 over Brooklyn FC behind a pair of goals by Sebastian Tregarthen.
Tregarthen is one of a handful of dangerous attackers in the Legion side. Top scorer Romario Williams leads the club with seven goals, Ronaldo Damus and Tregarthen have six apiece and former Hound Tyler Pasher has five on the season.
The Hounds are nearly back to full strength with the returns of Albert Dikwa and Lasse Kelp to training, and the final 90 minutes of the regular season could see head coach Rob Vincent try to get some minutes for key players while also managing the workload of others with the playoffs looming. They will be aiming for a more in-command performance than last week’s 1-1 draw at Rhode Island, when Eliot Goldthorp had to produce a last-gasp finish to earn a result.
Fall soccer continues to suit the Hounds, who have a 16-3-6 record in October regular-season matches since the 2019 season. Another trend they hope to continue is their home dominance against Birmingham; the Hounds are 5-0-1 when hosting the Legion, a record that includes five league matches and the team’s memorable 2019 playoff win.
The Fan Appreciation Night fun will start early, and fans will want to be one of the first 500 through the gates to receive a special Riverhounds “Pittsburgh Parking Chair” giveaway. Kids 14 and under will receive a 2026 Riverhounds poster, presented by King Orthodontics, and that just starts the list of items up for grabs. Special giveaways will occur throughout the night, with fans having the chance to win a special Grand Theft Auto IV prize pack, an IC Light table tennis table, select Riverhounds merchandise and more.
In addition to the giveaways, it will also be the annual Kick Out Cancer Night, presented by Allegheny Health Network, when we recognize cancer survivors and those affected by cancer as well as honoring this year’s AHN Change Makers.
Another sellout crowd is expected, but tickets for the match are still available through Ticketmaster and at the F.N.B. Stadium Box Office.
The match will air live on SportsNet Pittsburgh+ with replays throughout the weekend on SportsNet Pittsburgh and SNP+, while CBS Sports Golazo Network has the live stream and Radio Las Palmas, 92.9 FM HD2 will have the call in Spanish for their listeners.
