PITTSBURGH (July 7, 2017) – The Pittsburgh Riverhounds (5-7-4) hit the road in search of a bounce-back effort following their loss on the Fourth of July, facing Orlando City B (5-6-5) for the first time ever at Orlando City Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 8.
This weekend’s tilt will be the first of three-straight road trips for the Hounds, as they officially cross the halfway point of the 2017 season.
Sitting in 11th and only two points out of a top-eight spot in the Eastern Conference table, a victory would be massive for the club’s playoff hopes amidst a brutal July stretch of play. Set to play four of a remaining five matches this month on the road and already with a defeat at home to Charlotte, Orlando currently presents the only opponent in July the Hounds will face with a losing record.
These two clubs already met once this season, a 2-1 result in favor of Orlando at Highmark Stadium in June. The Hounds are 1-2-0 all-time against the Orlando B side, picking up their lone victory last season on the road in September – a 2-0 victory highlighted by tallies from Chevaughn Walsh and Corey Hertzog and a clean sheet effort from current Crew SC goalkeeper Zack Steffen.
With points expected to be at a premium all this month, the Hounds will hope to take advantage of a couple factors working in their favor on Saturday. First, Orlando will be without its leading scorer Pierre Da Silva after he was hit with a three-game suspension following a red card against FC Cincinnati on July 1. Additionally, Orlando has scuffled at home so far this season, winning one of only seven matches.
