PITTSBURGH (Aug. 28, 2026) — The Hounds have a chance to close out August with a statement game when they host the Championship-leading Tampa Bay Rowdies in a 5 p.m. match at F.N.B. Stadium.
After carrying momentum through August with a 3-0-1 record, the Hounds suffered their first setback of the month Wednesday with a late 2-1 defeat at West-leading El Paso. Now, on short rest, the Hounds will have to regroup against a Rowdies side that took a 3-0 win when they met in Florida, though that match came in the season’s third week on March 21.
The Hounds will hope history at F.N.B. Stadium holds true, as the Rowdies have won only once in 10 previous trips to Pittsburgh, with the Hounds taking five wins and four draws. Boosting the Hounds’ depth was the return Wednesday of Beto Ydrach — seeing his first action since March 28 because of a hernia injury — while Lasse Kelp and Nico Campuzano received a night off in El Paso. The midfield also remains a rotating area to keep legs fresh, with Eliot Goldthorp coming off the bench in El Paso, something Charles Ahl and Robbie Mertz each took a turn doing in the two previous matches.
If imitation is the highest form of flattery, the Rowdies roster comes with a slight tip of the cap to the Hounds. The league leaders remade their roster in the offseason and signed five former Hounds, including three players who began their pro careers in Pittsburgh. Of those, defender Nate Dossantos leads the team in minutes, Russell Cicerone is second on the team with six goals, midfielder Louis Pérez has added four, and the goalkeeper room in Tampa is occupied by Jahmali Waite as the first choice with Austin Pack behind him.
Apart from those ex-Hound contributors, MD Myers has been the leader of the Rowdies attack with nine goals, and left side playmaker Charlie Ostrem has seven assists after following head coach Dominic Casciato from Union Omaha to the Rowdies.
Fans are reminded of the early 5 p.m. start time, which means gates will open at 4 p.m. The Tailgate Zone will not be open prior to the match, with the F.N.B. Stadium Touch-a-Truck event being held from 2-4 p.m. in that area. Touch-a-Truck tickets are sold separately, but they include a ticket to the Hounds match.
Inside the stadium will be the celebration of Community Heroes Night, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, as we honor the first responders, teachers, medical professionals and so many others who dedicate their efforts in service of our community. Fans not at the stadium will have plenty of options to keep up with the action. SportsNet Pittsburgh+ will air the match live with replays throughout the weekend on SNP+ and the main SportsNet Pittsburgh channel, and ESPN+ will have the streaming coverage. The match will also be carried across North America on SiriusXM FC, Ch. 157, and the local broadcast of the match in Spanish will again be on Radio Las Palmas, 92.9 FM HD2.
