This week, we take a look back at the best of the 2019 season. Today, we reflect on our best assists from this campaign.

Monday: Saves
Tuesday: Goals

Ryan James - March 30 vs. Bethlehem Steel FC

Ryan James finished second on the team in total assists this season with six, and perhaps none were better than his first of the year on March 30 on the road against Bethlehem.

After making a run down the left wing in transition, James collected a pass at the top of the 18-yard box and slotted an incredible no-look pass through the penalty area to a streaking Kevin Kerr, who finished off the effort with a perfectly-placed ball into the upper-left corner of the net.

The pass just narrowly avoided deflecting off of a number of Steel FC defenders as well as a rushing Dos Santos, who made an incredible effort to leap out of the way and let the ball pass through his legs en route to Kerr.

Kevin Kerr - April 13 vs. Hartford Athletic

Kerr was involved in the setup of a number of incredible goals this season as well, including this stonier that opened the scoring in the Hounds’ home opener back on April 13 against Hartford.

After making a nice cut to shake off one defender, Kerr cut inside the 18-yard box before stopping on a dime and delivering a perfectly-placed volley over the heads of a leaping Hartford backline, putting it in a great spot for Steevan Dos Santos to finish it off with a slick header into the back of the net.

Kerr would add a goal of his own to finish off a superb individual effort and help the Black and Gold secure a 3-1 win in their home opener.

Ryan James - June 8 vs. Ottawa Fury

James and Kerr teamed up for another spectacular goal at home against Ottawa on June 8, the opening salvo in a 2-2 draw.

A long volley downfield was corralled by Robbie Mertz, who secured the bouncing ball before passing off to James near the left sideline. The Canadian national wasted no time in making a play, chipping a high, lofty effort nearly 30 yards across the field, a precise strike that hit Kerr perfectly in-stride for a header.  The tally put the Hounds up 1-0 in the 34th minute.

Anthony Velarde - June 29 vs. Birmingham Legion FC

Anthony Velarde capped off a resounding 4-1 Hounds win over Birmingham with perhaps the prettiest assist of the night in a game that could have had at least one other entry on this list.

After chasing down a loose ball near the sideline, Velarde side-stepped a Birmingham defender before pulling up just outside the penalty box and chipping a perfect left-footed volley into the penalty area, where a waiting Christian Volesky connected with a beautiful header after a well-timed run for the goal.

The score pushed the Hounds’ lead to 4-0 and helped cap off a dramatic win over Legion FC.

Kenardo Forbes - Aug. 3 vs. Mephis 901 FC

With the whole attacking third ahead of him, Kenardo Forbes scanned the pitch in search of a passing lane. Then, he found a streaking Jordan Dover and placed a beautiful through-ball to the outside back.

The ball had the perfect pace, and Dover had the perfect shot as the Hounds defeated Memphis 901 FC, 4-0, at Highmark Stadium.
