MAKING STRIDES OF GREATER PITTSBURGH RETURNS
October is breast cancer awareness month and Highmark Stadium is proud to once again host the Making Strides of Greater Pittsburgh event. Held by the American Cancer Society, the walk to celebrate survivorship and help raise funds for breast cancer research will take place on October 15 at 9 a.m. Registration, as well as the option to donate, remains open at the link here, while day of registration will be open at the stadium starting at 7:30 a.m. So far 97 teams and 436 participants have registered for the event, raising an incredible $31,298.24.
FALL SOCCER CONTINUES AT HIGHMARK STADIUM
The Hounds’ season might be over, but there’s plenty of soccer left to be played this month at Highmark Stadium. Our Chevron High School Soccer Series wraps up this month with games running through October 18. To purchase tickets, visitticketmaster.com today.
Also set to run this month is the Steel City World Cup presented by BNY Mellon. The World Cup-style tournament featuring 32 teams representing 32 different countries to celebrate the diversity of Pittsburgh takes place the weekend of October 15-16. Preliminary matches will take place on Saturday around the Greater Pittsburgh area before concluding on Sunday at Highmark Stadium with the championship match and a cultural festival. WODLIFE GAMES ON TAP FOR THIS WEEKEND
Highmark Stadium will be hosting the WODLIFE River Games on October 8-9. The CrossFit event is the first of this kind of scale to hit the Steel City. Powered by WODLIFE, the event is the fourth in a series of competitions hosted by the workout apparel retailer. Price of admission is $5 at the gate. Action on Saturday starts at 8 a.m., while Sunday’s competition kicks off at 5 p.m. More information on the event can be found visiting the WODLIFE site here.

SPACES FILLING UP FAST FOR TRAINING ACADEMIES
Registration for each of the Riverhounds Winter Training Academies remains open, but spaces are filling up fast.
The Academy Technical Training is a 15-week skills training program held at Cool Springs Sports Complex at Bethel Park and is open to all players, regardless of club affiliation, and includes an intense training curriculum focused upon high-level technique development by a staff of professional soccer players. Training kicks off November 12.
Academy East Technical Training opens on November 7 at Shallenberger Recreational Center in Scottdale, Pennsylvania and will allow young athletes to be immersed in a competitive 14-week program that includes technical soccer training, accompanied by speed and strength conditioning. Like the Academy, all players are welcome regardless of club affiliation.

Lastly, the Riverhounds Winter Goalkeeper Academy is set to start on November 12 at Cool Springs.
