
HOUNDS CONTINUE SEASON WITH TWO HOME MATCHES THIS MONTH
The Hounds had a busy April, opening the season with a tough 1-0 loss to the Rochester Rhinos before seeing their annual Keystone Derby Cup with the Harrisburg City Islanders pushed back to July due to inclement weather.

A couple hard-fought draws on the road later in the month have given the Hounds three points on the season as the team continues to search for their first win. Romeo Parkes has led the charge for Pittsburgh, notching goals in four-straight matches and landing him at tied for third-overall in the league in goal scoring. His recent hot play earned him USL’s Team of the Week honors for the first week of May.
Saturday’s home match on May 7 against the New York Red Bulls II kicks off the May schedule for Pittsburgh and will continue with matches against FC Cincinnati and New York on the road and Toronto F.C. PROMOS GALORE IN STORE FOR MAY
Saturday’s match against the New York Red Bulls II also marks a slew of promotions for fans. A celebration of breast cancer survivors will take place pregame and continue throughout with the Hounds donning pink jerseys that will be raffled off at the conclusion of the match for charity. Superheroes and kids also take center stage with fans encouraged to wear their favorite superhero costumes to a receive 25 percent discount on tickets. Lastly, Kids Day festivities include face painting, a bounce house and numerous giveaways.
Later in the month, the Hounds’ match against Toronto F.C. II on May 21 encourages fans to “Get Fit.” Three-dollar discounts will be given to fans riding their bikes to the game and stay tuned for details on the power yoga session that night.
HIGHMARK STADIUM GETS FIT
In conjunction with the Get Fit theme, Highmark Stadium will be hosting two unique events the week of the Toronto F.C. II match. First, Highmark Stadium kicks off its Yoga on the Turf series on Wednesday, May 18 at 6 p.m. All people are invited to enjoy a 60-minute session on the Highmark Stadium turf, which will include live music. The session will be the first of five that will run from May all the way through September.
Lastly, a three-hour “Red, White and Zumbathon” will take place prior to the May 21 contest at 9 a.m. Further information can be on the Hounds’ site, with proceeds benefitting the It’s About the Warrior Foundation for veterans and their families in the tri-state area.
ACADEMY TRYOUTS AND SUMMER CAMPS
The Riverhounds Development Academy is hosting tryouts at Highmark Stadium from May 9-23 for its boys’ and girls’ teams from the Under-8/9 age level through to U-19s.
Over 400 new players have already signed up for their chance to join our Academy teams for the 2016-2017 season. Registration is still open.
Our Summer Camp series is also set with two training programs for high-level players aged 8-13 and a fun-filled camp for our younger players.
HOUNDS ON THE LOOSE
Riverhounds players kept active in the community throughout the month of April including teaming up with The Watson Institute to host the fourth annual Special Kick Clinic at Highmark Stadium. Players and coaches enjoyed an afternoon of soccer fun with children with special needs and their siblings.
Already this month, the Hounds hosted Pursuit for a field trip that saw players interact with students in a fun-filled day on the Highmark Stadium turf.
Now looking ahead, the Hounds will take part in several events throughout the month including an autograph session featuring Corey Hertzog and Lebo Moloto taking place at the Pittsburgh Playhouse on May 8 from 1-to-2 p.m. Pittsburgh will also have stops at Ross Elementary for their field day on May 13 and Dormont Elementary on May 23, as well as welcoming the Dormont and Fred L. Aiken schools to Highmark on May 10.
Finally, the latter part of May will feature stops at Kennywood and the Open Streets event. May 25 marks the grand re-opening of Noah’s Ark in Kennywood, where two Hounds players will take board of Noah’s Arc in a two-by-two format alongside others such as Penguins, Pirates and Steelers players. The month’s community outreach concludes with the Hounds taking part in a pickup soccer game in the Open Streets event on Penn Avenue on May 29.
