PITTSBURGH (June 14, 2021) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC heads back on the road for a midweek contest, in which they will face Indy Eleven at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis. The match will be nationally televised on ESPN Deportes and streamed on ESPN+ both in English and Spanish.
The Hounds (2-3-2) come into the match after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Miami FC. Though the team did snap its two-match home losing streak, opportunities were plenty for a winning goal. With that in mind, head coach Bob Lilley was pleased with the team’s urgency and willingness to press after being too passive in a loss to Austin the previous weekend.
Indy (3-3-1) also comes into the match needing a sense of urgency after dropping two in a row, the most recent coming by a 2-0 score last Wednesday at El Paso.
History between the clubs has been even. Indy won both meetings last year by 1-0 scores, both on goals by former Riverhound Tyler Pasher, which brought the all-time series to 3-3-2 since the Eleven joined the USL Championship in 2018. Of those eight matches, only one was decided by more than a goal, so a close contest can be expected.
Neither team has been lighting up the scoreboard to start the season. The Hounds have scored eight goals, and Indy has scored seven through seven matches for each. Russell Cicerone has four of those for the Hounds, and Jordan Hamilton leads Indy with three on the season.
Though it is an inter-divisonal match, it is important for both teams with Indy sitting fourth in the Central Division, while the Hounds currently sit on the wrong side of the cut line in fifth in the Atlantic Division.
