WINTER 2025 INFORMATION
We are pleased to announce the opening of our 2025-2026 Winter Technical Training Academy that will take place at our indoor facility at Montour Junction Sports Complex. Throughout last Winter we worked with over 500 players from the months of November through early March 2025. The demand for the program this Winter will be very high and we look forward to helping as many local players improve throughout the Winter months.
Each player that takes part in the 15-week program will improve technically on the soccer ball in many areas. The aim is that players who take part in the program will be prepared and ready for the Spring season. We are confident that all players will improve comfort levels on the ball and will be a more confident technical player at the conclusion of the program.
Our training sessions will be high tempo and players will leave each session feeling challenged. Our technical staff will be comprised of our top Riverhounds Development Academy coaches and trainers. We will also integrate some of our Pittsburgh Riverhounds professional players into the sessions which will be a great experience for the players.
The program will be aimed at the following birth years and is open to any player regardless of club affiliation:
U9/10 (2017 / 2016) Boys and Girls
U11/12 (2015/2014) Boys and Girls
U13/14/15 (2013/2012/2011) Boys and Girls
If your child is younger than the 2017 age group then that player will fall into our Winter Grassroots Program. All the details of that program will be released very soon.
The first step in the process would be for any interested players to sign up for a technical evaluation session, so we can place players that are interested in the Winter training program in the correct developmental group. It is important that we group players in similar developmental groups and the technical evaluation allows us to do this.
The groups will be tiered the following per age group and gender:
Tier 1 (Top)
Tier 2
Tier 3
Tier 4 (If required)
Each group will have around 25 players. The players can move up or down a tier at any time based on how the player is developing.
If a player signs up for a technical evaluation session, that player doesn’t have to accept an invite into the 15 week winter program. This is just the first step and we will provide feedback on initial group placement and work with the family on the registration for the Winter program at that time.
The 15-week winter program will take place on Sunday mornings starting on Sunday November 2nd, 2025.

The price of the Winter Program will be $499 and broken up into installments for families. We will also have sibling discounts in place.
Step 1 – Technical Evaluation – REGISTER HERE
Current RDA Players – All current RDA players interested in the Winter Technical Training Academy will be required to attend and register for an evaluation. We will be offering a discount for the Winter Technical Training Program and all of this information will be released to RDA families soon.
The registration for step 1 (Technical Evaluation) is now open. You will see the dates below and all the evaluations will take place at the following location:

A player only needs to sign up for one evaluation date.
Evaluation 1 – Monday September 29th – Cost $20
Evaluation 2 – Monday October 6th – Cost $20
Evaluation 3 – Monday October 13th – Cost $20

We will work with families throughout the evaluation process. All tier placements into the Winter Training Academy 15-week program will come after the evaluation dates above. We will aim to invite all players into the program, the technical evaluation process just allows us to group players in the correct development groups.

We will be offering an 8 week Fall Technical Training Academy that will begin on Monday, August 25, 2025 and conclude on Monday, October 20th, 2025. The registration for the program is now open. The program is in high demand, so please make sure you register early to secure your spot.

Technical Training Academy is a flagship program from the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Technical Training Academy is offered in multiple locations throughout the year both in-season and off-season. This program offers players the opportunity for players refine their skills and boost confidence on the ball during the season and the off-season.

- Comprehensive Skill Development: Our 8-week program focuses on improving technical skills, ball control, and overall player confidence.
- Expert Coaching: Sessions are led by top Riverhounds Development Academy coaches, trainers, and Pittsburgh Riverhounds professional players for a challenging, high-tempo experience.
- Off/Pre-Season Preparation: Players will leave the program ready to hit the ground running in their current and upcoming season.
PLAYER-CENTRIC DEVELOPMENT:
We are committed to provide the best possible experience for each player in the program. We understand that every player is unique and progresses at their own pace. Each player will have the opportunity to move up or down training groups based on their performance and progress.
