PITTSBURGH (Aug. 30, 2022) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC striker Albert Dikwa was selected to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 25, the league announced this afternoon.
Dikwa scored both goals in the Hounds’ 2-1 win last Saturday at Atlanta United 2, which kept the Hounds in the thick of the race for a top-four finish and home playoff game in the Eastern Conference.
The 24-year-old from Cameroon netted the opening goal with a right-footed finish in the 44th minute, and he broke a 1-1 tie in the 71st minute with a powerfully hit header for game-winning goal. He also completed 22 of 25 passes in the game, helping to maintain the Hounds’ attack and guide the team to its fourth game of the season with a pass completion better than 80 percent.
It is the second Team of the Week honor this season for Dikwa, who was the league’s Player of the Week in Week 5 after his first two-goal game of the season. Dikwa has a career-best nine goals this season, which ranks him second on the team.
The Hounds are back in action tomorrow, Aug. 31, when they host the Charleston Battery at 7 p.m. at Highmark Stadium. Tickets for the game are available through Ticketmaster or at the Highmark Stadium Box Office.
