PITTSBURGH (Oct. 18, 2022) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC forward Russell Cicerone was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for the final week of the 2022 regular season, the league announced this afternoon.
Cicerone had a goal and an assist in the Hounds’ 3-1 win last Saturday over Oakland Roots SC, a victory that secured the No. 5 seed in the East for the USL Championship Playoffs beginning this weekend. In addition to his scoring, he had team highs of three successful dribbles and three chances created in the match.
The assist, his sixth of the season, set up Toby Sims for the tying goal just before halftime. His headed goal — his team-leading 13th of the season — gave the Hounds a 2-1 lead and moved Cicerone into the top five for goals in club history with his 29th in two seasons with the team.
It is the third Team of the Week honor this season for Cicerone, who also earned the honor in Week 10 and Week 22. While Cicerone was the only Hounds player in the league’s top 11, Hounds captain Kenardo Forbes earned a spot on the Team of the Week bench after scoring the third goal in the win over Oakland.

The Hounds begin the postseason with an Eastern Conference Quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 against Birmingham Legion FC at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. The match will be shown live on 22 The Point (WPNT-22) and ESPN+.
