The 02, 03 and 04 Girls teams traveled across the country to Arizona, where they competed in the three-day ECNL Phoenix tournament, and it was an impressive showing by the eldest team making the trip west. The 02 Girls finished with a 2-0-1 record with wins over the DMCV Sharks (Calif.) and Crossfire Premier (Wash.) before finishing with a draw against the FC Dallas Academy.
Taylor Hamlett had a pair of goals for the 02 Girls, Katelyn Kauffman scored the lone goal against Crossfire Premier, and Caroline Czarnecki scored a last-second winner in the opener against DMCV Sharks. The real star of the weekend, however, was the defensive and goalkeeping play, as the 02 Girls conceded just two goals in 270 minutes of play against top opposition.
Closer to home, the boys teams from 00/01 through 06 traveled north to the Buffalo area, where they played BoysECNL league matches against the Western New York Flash. It was a dominating weekend for the RDA boys, who won 11 of the 12 matches played Saturday and Sunday. The 00/01 Boys and 04 Boys were particularly in control, outscoring their opposition over two matches by totals of 16-0 and 19-1, respectively. Not all of the teams had it that easy, particularly the 03 Boys, who came away from two competitive games with wins of 4-3 and 3-1.
It was also a good weekend for the 03 East Boys, who continued their improving form by taking two wins — both in shutout fashion — from three matches against opponents from Ohio.
