PITTSBURGH (Oct. 5, 2021) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC midfielder Kenardo Forbes was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 24, the league announced this afternoon.
It is the fourth Team of the Week selection this season for Forbes, who scored both of the Hounds’ goals in a 3-2 defeat at Miami FC last Saturday night. His sharp-angled goal staked the Hounds to a 1-0 lead early in the match, and he headed his team back in front in the 66th minute, but the 2-1 advantage would not hold up.
In addition to his goals, which give the USL Championship’s all-time assists leader a career-high five goals this season, Forbes completed 38 of 48 passes. He was at the center of the action for all 90 minutes, as he led the team with nine crosses, made nine defensive recoveries and had a team-high 71 touches on the ball.
Forbes’ two goals also moved him up to seventh in team history for points with 57 (13 goals, 31 assists), and he now trails former Hound and current Hounds Academy coach Rob Vincent by just one point for sixth place.
The Hounds return home for their next match at 6 p.m. Sunday against the Atlantic Division-leading Tampa Bay Rowdies. Tickets for the match are available through Ticketmaster or at the Highmark Stadium Box Office.
