PITTSBURGH (June 26, 2018) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (6-1-7) wraps up a brief two-game road swing with a visit to reigning league champion Louisville City FC (7-2-4) tomorrow night at Slugger Field. Set to kick off at 7 p.m., the meeting will be the first between the two clubs this season.
Coming off a nil-nil draw at the Charleston Battery, the Hounds enter Wednesday’s tilt with an unbeaten record on the road still in tact (2-0-4) – the lone remaining club in the conference to hold that distinction. Continuing their success away from the Burgh though will be a tall task, as LouCity has yet to concede defeat at home (5-0-1). The hosts are tied with New York for the most wins at home to date in the East, and on average have allowed one goal per game.
Opportunity might be ripe for the Hounds, as Louisville is coming off two straight matches of conceding a lead in the final five minutes of play. If Pittsburgh is to capitalize though for three points, it will have to defeat an opponent with a winning record for only the second time this season (1-1-3).
Additional storylines to keep an eye on include the Black and Gold’s defense continuing to allow goals at a historically low rate. Through 14 matches, the Hounds are allowing 0.50 goals per game, far and away the best mark in club history at the moment (the 2013 squad holds the best mark for a full season at 0.85). Forward Neco Brett, meanwhile, remains well in the hunt for the Golden Boot with almost half the season gone, as his eight goals rank him tied for third in the league.
Fans hoping to catch Wednesday’s match can stream live on ESPN+ with a subscription, while up-to-the-minute stats can be found on USL Match Center. In addition, fans are also welcome to listen to Hounds play-by-play guy Matt Gajtka, who will be on site, call the game live via a radio feed on the club’s Facebook page.
