PITTSBURGH (August 13, 2016) – The Kick It 3v3 Soccer Northeast Regional Championships kicked off today to great success at Highmark Stadium, boasting 102 teams representing six states in the Northeast region. The two-day tournament will wrap up tomorrow with single-elimination play starting at 7:30 a.m. and concluding at 1 p.m. with championship matches.
Stadium and Pittsburgh Riverhounds owner, Tuffy Shallenberger, said the event is a great opportunity to showcase the nationwide growth of soccer in Pittsburgh.
“We are happy to host Kick It 3v3 here at Highmark Stadium, and love seeing city hotels, restaurants and the economy continue to see growth due to Pittsburgh soccer,” Shallenberger said.
The stadium field was converted to accommodate six 3v3 fields, as matches ran till 4 p.m. today, before taking a break for all tournament participants to watch the Hounds play Philadelphia Union’s USL affiliate club, Bethlehem Steel FC at 7 p.m.
Kick It is celebrating 26 years as the first and largest national 3v3 grassroots soccer tournament tour in the U.S., the original Disney World qualifier, providing over 5,000,000 kids and families with a fun, safe, healthy sports experience. Kick It is part of the North American Sports Group family.
