PITTSBURGH (May 9, 2017) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds midfielder Victor Souto has been named to the USL Team of the Week after netting the game-winning goal against Toronto FC II this past Wednesday at Highmark Stadium for the club’s second straight win.
The goal, scored in the 22nd minute, was the first of Souto’s professional career and made him the fifth different Hound to net a goal so far this season.
A native of Sao Paolo, Brazil, Souto has started in all but one game this season, providing a strong presence at holding midfield for the Hounds. Souto has most notably played well in the defensive end, leading the club in tackles (29) and passes (460) – the latter in which he is completing successfully at a 76.5 percent rate.
The University of Akron product is the third Hounds player to have received the weekly honor so far in 2017, joining teammates Joe Greenspan and Corey Hertzog.
Currently sitting fifth in the East, the Hounds (3-3-2) will look to push their winning streak to three, crossing the border to face Ottawa Fury FC (1-2-3) for the first time in franchise history at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13. Fans can follow the action live on USL Match Center.
