PITTSBURGH (August 25, 2017) – The Pittsburgh Riverhounds will honor their Development Academy’s Under-18 (1999) Girls team prior to tomorrow night’s match against Bethlehem Steel FC at Highmark Stadium.
The U-18 squad captured the U.S. Club Soccer Super Group National Cup championship this past July in Indianapolis – the second time in the past three seasons for this group.
“This team is special. To win this event two out of three years is an outstanding achievement and it’s a credit to the dedication and hard work of all the players and staff,” U-18 head coach and Academy Director Scott Gibson said.
“The girls have worked tremendously hard over the years to maintain a level of excellence in all areas of development. We are constantly challenging the players in situations through training that ultimately prepares them for high-pressure moments in big games. The team has proved they can handle those moments and is a testament to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds organization.”
All members, including graduates Marissa Dezorzi, Kaele Kloc and Marisa Johnson, are expected to be present for the pregame ceremony. Returners are currently preparing for their respective high school seasons and will begin competing again for the Riverhounds Development Academy in early November for the Academy’s inaugural season in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL).
Tickets to tomorrow night’s match, set to kickoff at 7 p.m., are still available and can be purchased at www.riverhounds.com.
