PITTSBURGH (February 23, 2018) – With tallies from Kevin Kerr and Mouhamed Dabo, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC captured its third straight shutout of the preseason, defeating the University of Charleston (W.Va.), 2-0, tonight at Highmark Stadium.
Kerr struck first in the 21st minute, scoring off a ball fellow midfielder Christiano François sent his way across the 18-yard box. This marks the Hounds veteran’s first goal of the preseason and François’ second straight game with a point.
The Black and Gold potted one more tally before the end of the night. Dabo found himself with space inside the penalty area before sending a shot past the Charleston goalkeeper into the back of the net in the 59th minute.
On the defensive end, goalkeepers Dan Lynd and Mike Kirk combined for the clean sheet. Pittsburgh has not allowed a goal in its past 286 minutes of preseason action.
In the Hounds’ victory, recent signee and 2012 USL Pro Golden Boot winner Dennis Chin made his debut, subbing on for Romeo Parkes in the 70th minute.
Moving its record to 4-0 in preseason play, Riverhounds SC has a quick turnaround, as it will host the University of Akron at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Highmark Stadium. All preseason matches at Highmark Stadium are free to attend for the public.
