PITTSBURGH (April 26, 2018) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (2-0-3) returns home this weekend to host expansion side Atlanta United 2 (1-1-3) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at Highmark Stadium. The match marks the first meeting between the two sides.
The Hounds enter Saturday in uncharted territory, as their five-game unbeaten streak to open the 2018 campaign is the club’s best start in franchise history – besting the previous high of four games unbeaten in 2000 (3-0-1). Additionally, Pittsburgh’s unblemished record at home through three matches is its best ever since beginning play at Highmark Stadium in 2013.
For Atlanta, the MLS B-side comes to Pittsburgh on a short week, fresh off its first loss of the season on Tuesday against the Charleston Battery. United 2 is one of only four teams in the USL yet to record a clean sheet this season, while its eight goals allowed rank tied for third-most in the Eastern Conference.
The club’s defensive effort may open up opportunities for the Hounds, whose attack has begun to fire on all cylinders, averaging 1.75 goals per game in its past four after two straight nil-nil clean sheets to open the season.
Currently, the Hounds are one of two teams in the East – joining Louisville – and four teams in the league overall – Sacramento and Las Vegas in addition out West – to hold the distinction of being unbeaten.
Off the pitch, the Hounds will be celebrating National Superhero Night, presented by Allegheny Health Network. The first 500 fans 10 years-and-under through the gates will receive a co-branded superhero cape, courtesy of AHN. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at www.riverhounds.com.
For fans unable to make the match, catch all the action live on ESPN+ and follow along with up-to-the-minute stats at USL Match Center.
