PITTSBURGH (June 15, 2018) – The 50th Anniversary celebration of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” is coming to Highmark Stadium on Saturday, June 16 for WQED Neighborhood Night. Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and WQED Pittsburgh have partnered to bring an exciting night of family-friendly fun for people of all ages, as the Hounds will face off against New York Red Bulls II at 7 p.m.
Paying homage to one of the city’s greatest icons in Mister Rogers, Neighborhood Night will include a slate chock-full of excitement.
The Hounds and WQED encourage all fans to dress in their best Mister Rogers sweater or favorite PBS character get-up for a chance to win a special prize pack with the winner being chosen at the game. A selfie station will be available for picture taking and the little ones will enjoy Daniel Tiger mask making, A special sing-along, complete with bouncing soccer ball to “Won’t You Be My Neighbor.” will take place following the final whistle.
WQED’s Rick Sebak will be on hand to give away items exclusive to the night’s festivities and air the trailer at halftime for the Fred Rogers documentary – “Won’t You Be My Neighbor.”
In addition, Allegheny Health Network (AHN), the official medical provider of Riverhounds SC, will present Prostate Awareness Night as part of its season-long ’Health Series’ at Highmark Stadium. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer among men in the United States with about one in seven men receiving this diagnosis in their lifetime. The Health Series is designed to educate fans and generate awareness about a range of health topics including heart disease prevention, pediatric orthopaedic and concussion awareness, prostate and cancer awareness, and ways to live a healthy life and avoid injury.
AHN will present children in attendance a special Father’s Day coloring card and men the opportunity to learn more about the prostate cancer services offered by the medical provider throughout our region.
